About The Artist

Becka Gauld lives in the city of Aberdeen. Unusually for a craft artist she came to the profession while completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology, rather than art! She developed her designs in response to being unable to find spider jewellery that reflected the spirit and anatomy of the real thing. Except for a few electronics lessons at school she is self taught in this unusual craft, initially developing designs with her dad's soldering iron at home. She was presented with a fully equipped tool box on leaving home! Her professional qualifications are apparent by the accuracy and often too life-like designs and by the tags attached to each larger piece giving the common and Latin name of each species.
